Is it necessary for you to number each section I wonder? Why not do it paragraphs as follows:-

Education in Britain is compulsory from the age of 5 to 16 years. There are three basic types of state schools as follows:-

Elementary from the age of 5 to 8,
Middle from the age of 8 to 11 and
Secondary from the age of 11 to 16.

Some secondary schools are comprehensive and cater for pupils of all levels of ability and some are selective. In theory, they educate pupils in the higher ability ranges.

Since the turn of the century, the Labour government has intensified selection by increasing the number of faith-based schools, city technology colleges and schools specialising in certain kinds of subjects.

These changes have angered many people who believe the comprehensive ideal of equal opportunity for all has been abandoned.

These are just my ideas and it is possible others may word it differently but whatever way you choose to set out your work, providing it is clear and precise, then your teacher hopefully will be pleased with your work.

Good luck.

The other answerers have provided some alternative words for you, but I thought I would give you some help with your written English. Good luck, I wish I could write in Italian as well as you write in English.

compulsory means something is mandatory - you have to do it

comprehensive means that it covers or addresses everything

A really good tool you should get to know is a thesaurus -- it's often more helpful than a dictionary because it provides synonyms (words that mean the same thing) for just about any word you need. Here is a free online thesaurus:

good luck

Compulsary = obbligatorio and Comprehensive = completo

1. Compulsary = è obbligatorio andare alla scuola

2. Comprehensive school = il tipo di scuola è completo

Spero che questo aiuti e buona fortuna

Compulsory - it is required, they must attend.
Comprehensive - covers every area of study (math, language, science, etc.)
Cater - take care of the needs of someone.
Kinds - different types. In this case things like science, math, language, etc.
Angered - made people upset or mad

So, to replace the words...

1. required
2. broad
3. provide
4. varieties
5. perturbed
