Superman draws his energy from our sun. His solar system did not have that effect on him or his world due to proximity (they were further away from their sun(s)). Still does make you wonder, since they were an advanced civilization, why they couldn't avoid it.

Is this supposed to be a joke question or what?
Dude, the whole planet wasn't designed to just "fly" away through space. It's not the freakin' Death Star.
Secondly, the red sun (remember that big, glowing red ball near Krypton?) made the Kryptonians just like any other normal person.
Also, Jor-El was the one who told everybody what was gonna happen, but the dumb-f**ks didn't wanna listen and got themselves killed. Serves them right.
Lastly, do you NOT pay attention at all when watching any of the Superman movies, TV shows, cartoons, comic books, or whatever form of media you happen to be flipping through?
Edit: You can thumbs down me all you want it still won't change the fact that you're an idiot.

Because they were powerless. Kryptonians, like Kal-el (aka superman) get their powers from Earth's yellow sun, something Krypton didn't have.

Kryptonians only have super-powers under the radiation of a Yellow Sun, and their native star Rao is a Red Dwarf star (our sun, Sol, is a main sequence G-Type).
Kryptonians would not have been able to fly under their own power as a result.

Because he's only powered by the earths sun and since in Krypton it was some weird red sun they had no power.

First Sumerman gets his power from our sun. Second, the people were too willing to listen to their super computer. The super computer realized what was happening with the sun and hid the fact. That's because the super computer had time to either come up with a plan to save itself or come up with a plan on saving the people on the planet. The computer saved itself leaving most of the people on the planet to die.

In the originals, Superman couldn't even fly. He could run fast, he could jump over buildings, and he could eat grape nuts without milk, but that's about it.

i actually know the answer to a question finally
the others on the planet worked for scale, and therefore were not afforded the special effects that superman had.
when the planet was destroyed, they had to seek parts in other movies and hope to be the star.
it is tragic how we just discard people isn't it, but hey, its hollywood and we love our stars, (and the expendable crewmen)
