I have used every version of CCleaner, and never has it removed a file or temp. folder that is needed for your system to operate. Even use their registry cleaner. (Myself I trust this software 100%).

I use Windows XP Pro.

ANY automatic "cleaner" can hose your rig by mistake. Some programs have to share files so that both can run correctly. If one of those programs is infected with malicious code, and the cleaner trashes it, the other program will likely not run. So, what do you do? My opinion, trash whatever the cleaner finds and wants to trash. Then, restore any missing files with your backup media. Doing this will guarantee you have all the files you need and that they will be clean. You DID make backups before using the cleaner, right? In case the answer is no, be prepared for a long session in front of your computer rebuilding your program list. Remember to back up everything and never have one copy of anything. Hope this has helped.

Any cleaner can make mistakes, but ccleaner is regarded as one of the most conservative, and safest ones out there. Don't go too crazy with it, even a large pile of those tiny files aren't gonna cause and problems anyway.

It can mess up your PC if you don't know what you're doing. Always backup your registry incase it gets rid of something that a program needed.

When it cleans your hard drive space, it does not mess up your PC.
