If you give this person permission to use your card then it's OK. The problem will be if they ask for ID. You may want to consider drawing up a legal document saying this person has the right to use your card.

My thoughts, even if it is a trusted member of your family, people tend to change when they have access to money, I'm not saying this will happen but it is a possibility and if it does then you are responsible for the debt if he doesn't pay.

I wouldn't loan my card to anyone!

It's not illegal if you give them permission, but if the store clerk sees the card does not belong to the user (e.g. there is a man's name on it but a woman is using it, or the signatures are different) they do not have to accept it and usually won't.

The other thing to bear in mind is that if you have the card stolen and there was someone else who knew the pin number, the credit card company will not pay out for if it has been used fraudulently.

It may not be illegal but it almost certainly breaks the terms and conditions of your Credit Card account ... it's also very silly ..

Far better go draw cash and give your family member the money ..

when you say illegal, you wont get arrested for it if you gave your permission...but if a shop keeper realizes that the person using the card isnt the card holder they wont accept it....my local tescos has got a sign up at the checkout to say something along the lines of 'dont try and use a card that hasnt got your name on it', which i think is directed at the couples who use each others cards x

i might call the police and document a police record and speak to the mastercard business company and record the robbery. I certainly would not hesitate to press costs and placed them in penitentiary. Why could you have any attention for a kinfolk member that STOLE from you? because it is, the mastercard business company won't have faith you once you record the robbery of the cardboard. they could make you pay the bill. it incredibly is why you may document the police record.

it's illegal.. the card is in YOUR name..

the card could also be taken off the person.

however, I get my mum money out of the ATM the odd time, or order her things off the internet, only because she doesn't know how to do either. I'd rather she didn't get mugged for her money either.

as for store's I'd never use it in there..

Do you mean to assume your identity? Ask the bank that issued the card the question.

It is actually illegal, if your bank finds out they can take your card off you. However, providing they don't find out and its with your permission, whats the harm

It isn't illegal. The problem they may encounter is if they ask for identification. Sometimes they do; sometimes they don't.
