It was made mostly from ivory that was softened to make plates that joined together on a frame.
It had a crown and other features made of gold.
It was seated, not entirely unlike the Lincoln memorial.
I believe it was in front of a long reflecting pool.

It was seated in a temple. The wags said that if it got up it would bang its head on the temple roof. Made by pheidias in about 440 BC out of gold and ivory - he intended it to represent Zeus in the act of agreeing to the request of Thetis in Book I of Homer's Iliad.
I believe the technique of shaping the ivory has recently been rediscovered.
