I am listening to My favorite right now
Barry McGuire's "Eve Of Destruction"
Soooo got a favorite protest or anti-war song?
What is it and why?
And wouldn't it be nice if some of the people in R&P could
"Give Peace A Chance"?

Wait.... no one said Pink Floyd's Us and Them?
I love the way the song is so calm and relaxing and the lyrics are about war, such an interesting juxtaposition. And of course it was one of Rick's best compositions.
Yes, it would be lovely for us to Give Peace a Chance. Happy Christmas and War is Over!!!
Hope you're enjoying your holidays too!

"All I Have Left Is My Poor Johnnie's Hubcap" by Mad Goes Rock'nRoll.

Other than that I think that Protest songs are an easy way to spread Propaganda and get other people to do your bidding, when if you are truly concerned about any Issue -- roll your sleeves up and get your tail out there and put some sweat'n tears into it. IMHO

I hope I did not offend anybody -- I think I got carried away with my own "issues" -- For compositional quality, I'd go with War by Edwin Starr -- it's arranged well, has a lot of punch, and gets the message across.

...and Hats-off to Bowzer for picking Strange Fruit -- what a rare track, but so powerful -- I wish I would have thought of that :-)

I like a lot of them, but lately the three that get me going are

A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall - Dylan
Masters of War - Dylan (although the Eddie Vedder version is quite good too)
War - Edwyn Starr

Wow, when I read your question before seeing the details the 2 songs you mentioned popped into my head immediately!
I was against the Vietnam war so protest songs about that period are my favorites:

War - Edwin Starr
Universal Soldier - Donovan
Volunteers - Jefferson Airplane
Ohio - CSN&Y
