Im against escalators if theres a staircase right next to it.
I usually walk up the escalator anyways. Which requires a lot of 'Hey move..' 'Excuse me, watch out' 'Move over'

i use the stairs because i like to get the shopping and looking done as fast as possible. elevator/escalator only slows down my progress.
