It never fails - regardless of the type of vacay I take, I always, always get sick. This is particularly true with respect to car trips and for some reason when I spend time at my grandmother-in-law's condo in Florida. Well, my husband wants us to go to spend time at my GIL's condo in FL - and to drive there (from MI). I usually get stomach sick (vomiting, etc), a fever and headaches. Any tips on preventing car sickness + overall vacation wellness, besides taking Airborne/Emergen-C and washing hands (which I do lots of)?

Well, first of all it sounds like you are suffering from car sickness. Take some medication that helps motion sickness such as Dramamine. I have also heard that ginger root will help keep your stomach under control. I have never tried it but they tested it on Mythbusters and it seemed to work. Interestingly though, in a later episode they were on a boat and one of the people was still getting seasick. Hmmm.

Next up, people on vacation tend to alter their sleeping habits and eating habits. Eat fancier food than normal and stay up late and sleep in late. Sometimes just this kind of change will get you sick. This is also another road problem. Lots of food that you eat while travelling is pretty rough. Also, travelling will wear you out. Try to get more rest before you travel and be careful about what you choose to eat. Maybe mix in some fruit or vegatables or something.

Finally, you will be out and mixing with people from different places. You are probably being exposed to bugs that do not affect these people. If you have a immune system that sometimes lets stuff thru then you might pick up one of these bugs. That is hard to fight. However, keeping regular rest will help.

Dramamine works like a charm always. It will take care of the problem. I have the same problems as you whenever I travel. I use it every time I travel and it has never fail. Hope all is well and you don't get sick.
