I am 24 years old and married. we just had a bay who will be a month old on the 20th. I was going in to have my tubes tied in the middle of january but hubby doesn't want me to he wants to try for another baby ( try for a boy we have 3 girls) in the next year or so. How do I tell him I don't want to keep trying with out diappointing him or hurting his feelings? Or are there less premanet but effictive birth control methods we could try. I am breast feeding our 3 weeks old.

Go with the IUD as the previous posters said, and tell him that if he wants baby #4, he can carry it himself!!!!!!!

Mirena IUD. Is the best! I've been using it since my baby girl was 6 weeks old. My ob said it was the most effective method on the market, perfect for mommies and those in a single relationship. It lasts 5 years and it can be removed anytime if you want kids again. I love it because it leaves the decision up to me to be honest, because to get it removed I have to go to the Gyn myself and ask for it. Also, it's safe to use if you breastfeed. Google it and it will show their site.

Edited to say: I read Elissa's comment and I'm not quite sure about it, but my parent's best friends always wanted a boy and ended up having 5 girls LOL then they decided to stop. When the older sister got married she got pg with twin boys, and boy those grandparents were swept off their feet! Good luck

Yup--I would suggest an IUD. The work for at least 5 years, but can easily be removed before that.

But I've heard--and you might want to do some research on this (or not)--that once you have three kids all the same gender, the chances of ever having a kid of the opposite gender (i.e. your chances of having a boy) are minimal. So there's not much point in trying just because your hubby wants a boy. He's likely to be disappointed. I think you both need to want a child for the child herself before you go about having a 4th.

I'm on the Mirena. It's like an IUD, but it's an IUC. It's a little different in how it works, it's better for you and if you plan to TTC in the future. IUD's have very low risks that aren't worth it to me, IUC (like the Mirena) is different. IUD's have a higher rate of infertility afterwards, IUC's do not. It's very very rare, but it does happen (with IUD's).

The Mirena is awesome, and I am still nursing.

use the mirena IUD. Its effective for 5 yrs, but can be removed at any time if you want to try again. 3 kids at 24 is alot of work!!! Wait 2-3 years before you try again, for your sanity's sake!!
