Some do - they may experience a localized cramping or pinching sensation in the upper abdomen. Most don't unless they're monitoring body temperature or lucky enough to have a hormonal lab handy.

Symptoms of ovulation include premenstrual breast tenderness, lower abdominal bloating, menstrual cramps, and moodiness (also known as molimina) [1].
Ovulation may be confirmed by an increase in the basal body temperature of 0.5 to 1.0 degrees F the day after ovulation occurs. Readings are most accurate when they are taken immediately on awakening before any activity. The rise in the basal body temperature (BBT) appears to be caused by an increased level of progesterone which is secreted from the site of ovulation in the ovary (the corpus luteum) . A sustained rise in the basal body temperature or a progesterone level greater than 5 ng/ml is evidence of ovulation. However, progesterone levels greater than 10 ng/ml are more common in cycles in which conception has occurred [2].

It bepends on how long your cycles are. If you have a 28 day cycle then you should ovulate 14 days latter. If you go to www.whenmybaby.com they can tell you when you will ovulate and the best time to try to get pregnant. Also try an at home ovulating test. It works for me

You can't tell the exact moment you are ovulating. However, you can tell which day you are most likely ovulating or have ovulated. I get ovulation pain so that tells me I am ovulating or getting ready to ovulate. However, the best way is to measure your waking temp. A thermal shift up likely indicates that you have ovulated.

Before I went on the pill I used to bleed when I ovulated. It was really faint and didn't last long. Another way to tell is you can chart your basel body temperature.
