I'm going to be in Osaka starting on New Years Day, and my beloved college football team is playing in a Bowl Game on the 1st (so it will be around 1 or 2am Japan time I think). Is there a bar in Osaka I can go to that will have big college football bowl games that would be open the night of the 1st (technically morning of the 2nd) or am I just out of luck?

The Pig and Whistle is the go to gaijin bar in Osaka. Go early enough so you can ask someone there where is another good spot to watch the game, in case the Pig is too packed to get a good view or not to your taste.

There are quite a few international bars in Osaka - The Pig and Whistle, Murphys, The Outback, etc... Usually they will be playing international sports late at night (and theyll be open) and they are pretty good about putting on whatever sports you want. Check out an issue of Kansai Time Out (an english language magazine you can get at the airport or any large bookstore) and it will give you listings of places to try. New Years day might be a little tough cause people will still be partying there, but you might find something - good luck!
