I woke up today feeling tired, sore and my back (Ha..you thought something else didn't you?) is very stiff. I don't know why.

Anyone have any good excuses for why I might be feeling this way? Or better yet, suggestions?

Benn you just described how I feel right now. I have started a new intense weights program a week ago that has us lifting heavier weights, less reps but 5 sets. So the muscles are sore for at least 2 days after. The weather has gotten colder too although there is no snow yet I may have picked up a cold as well from leaving the club after taking a sauna and shower and not being totally dry. I am taking chewable Vitamin C which seems to help and massages really help with the soreness and stiffness but at $65 a pop not exactly something that one can do everyday or more than once a week unless they date a massage therapist or marry one. Echinacia is supposed to help prevent colds but once you get one it doesn't help. Oil of Oregano is supposed to be better than Echinacia but makes you smell like Italian bread. A small price to pay for better health if you ask me. I will try it today. Advil or Tylenol extra strength helps mask the pain or soreness so I will take that today as well. Be sure to get your evening Chamomile tea and your daily Green tea and your recommended daily water intake. Good luck on the road to recovery.

Are you asking this because you are still growing? Do you drink enough water to hydrate muscles, and make them pliable and able to relax? Do you drink caffeine six hours prior to bedtime, and flip around in your sleep? Do you make sure to stretch muscles before exercising or lifting heavy things? Do you lift by bending your knees and hopefully not lift from the waist? Do you take a balanced calcium/magnesium 600/300 mg. to naturally soothe muscle aches and help them grow? Do you wear clothes that keep you warm, to prevent stiffening muscles? Do you sit up straight in your chair, and when sitting for long periods, like in front of the computer or on a long plane trip, get up and stretch regularly? Do you take a 30-min. walk daily? Well, your muscles are asking you to do just that. (I know all this because I was run over by a drunk cadillac driver, and learned how to walk again. A great learning experience, without drugs. : ) I hope you feel great really soon. If none of these help, accupuncture may be just what you need. Stay cozy and well. Happy holidays!

Maybe it's the weather or the way you slept last night? Maybe all the tossing & turning left you tired as well? I'd say take a long hot shower or bath and take it easy for the day. I hope you are feeling better soon!

Good to hear from you again! Merry early Christmas if I don't see you around again before the holiday! :) :-) :0)

Maybe sore from yesterdays activity.
The weather may be harassing your bones.
A good hot shower always helps me.
For the tired feeling - Cut back starchy food like pasta & potatoes, don't diring carbonated drinks.

I actually felt like that about a week before I came down with a bad cold. Make sure you get plenty of rest and get lots of Vitamin C.
Feel better soon =]

Are you dehydrated? That can cause tiredness and muscle aches/stiffness. try drinking some gatorade and see if that helps!

Could be the way you slept last night you might have pulled something or twisted something.
