The engine oil is designed to protect the inside.
The outside won't rust, it's aluminum.

there's only one product I use, it's called BG-44k and it's a fuel additive. It's about $25 for a soda can size ammount but it's the only thing worth buying. Cleans off your injectors/carb lines and really does wonders to your engine. It's kinda a motorhead secret, just ask the guy in the parts store, they normally don't put it out. The only one that I know carries it is advanced auto parts.

as far as the outside I don't use anything besides soap and wax and I try and keep it clean and dry, although I know wax protects against rust.

and they were right, don't ever add anything to your oil.

Don't use any additive to your engine oil. Many oil additives have been sued by FTC and lost their cases because they do nothing good. Often they do much harm.

Use Mobile 1 motorcycle oil for the engine and that mostly what you need.

Becareful about just using any ol synthetic. Valvoline website actually says that their full synthetic is NOT suited for wet clutch (like in motorcycles) - too slippery. The mobile 1 website says that their mobile 1 motorcycle oil actually has less friction modifiers for the wet clutch. This website says that expensive motorcycle oils (except Mobile 1) are just waste of money.

During winter - MAKE SURE YOU WINTERIZE the bike.

As for the anti-rust, just wash it from week to week.

Good Luck

Most engine additives are snake oil. Oils have their own additive packages to protect against various threats. Rely on a good oil with the proper API rating (per your owner's manual) and change it at least as often as your owner's manual says. You can change it more frequently to be safe.

Outside of engine? Just keep it clean. Wash road grime off it between rides to keep it looking pristine.

you Need to use ordinary mineral oil to allow engine to bed in.
then when run in go to semi or fully synthetic as these cut wear right down if you change regularly,

me i would use slick 50 but no real need with synthetic oils changed reg,
fuel additive i would use red x

30 odd years of motorcycle use every day all weather,
if riding through winter put a layer of wax polish over frame & bits that get most of salt & spray dont polish it off re appliy after u wash the bike shuld come through the winter ok vaseline is good for wheels dont get on ruber as it rots rubber,
