would using a exhaust with no muffler ruin anything motor wise?

Jap exhaust is tuned for the best over all performance of the bike. Modifying your pipes changes the back pressure causing a change in the dynamics of the engine. It will probably cause poor starting, a flat spot in you power curve, & burnt exhaust valves.
To do it properly, you should put it on a dyno & rejet the carb's
if you expect to increase performance.

might get you pulled over faster,

without a muffler you will decrease the back pressure on the engine, but not by an ammount to alter prefromance, I don't think.
