How do you make a very fast model land yacht?

In school we are having a competition in tech class. We need to make a land yacht and race it. What is the best way to make one? What materials should I use? If someone can help me please help.

Almost no structure, good ball bearing wheels appropriate to the surface raced on (wider if sand, narrower if hard surface), wire bracing of mast as in real ones, adjustable weights for balance.
