Ron Paul is Barney Fife running for office. He wants to gut the Dept. of Homeland Security, the CIA & FBI. How would we gather intelligence, keep the president from being assassinated, catch child predators etc? There is no way Paul could get much of anything done through the house or senate. There is a good reason he is called 'Dr. No'. Al-Qaida would love to have this guy in office.

Ron Paul will have to educate all the ignorant politicians, that are just slaves to the system, on what the Constitution says and then bring an end to the corruptness of gov't... No IRS, No Federal Reserve, Bring the troops home... Ron Paul is America's Alarm Clock, millions have woken up and are following him... Now the rest need to open their minds, start caring and embrace the message of freedom.

Any elected candidate needs to have his or her plans passed through the house and congress. That's why campaign promises are never kept. At best we can show support to the ideas presented to us by the candidates. After any candidate is elected it's up to us to pressure our representatives to vote and support our president. If enough people hold the feet of our representatives to the fire and make them support what we support we can dictate change. This is how our country is suppose to work. This is a government by and for the people. When we elect people and walk away from our responsibilities and activism we lose control of our power. We need to be proactive in our freedoms so that we don't lose our power.

Ron Paul is currently a Representative in Washington and from Texas. He is known for his consistency in voting and for introducing more Legislation into Congress than any other Representative, states Congressional Quarterly.
If you don't know much about Ron Paul and can't understand why people support him, either go to wikipedia.com, which has done a great job of explaining him, or to his website, ronpaul2008.com
He is an honest, articulate, and intelligent man who believes the working middle class has been given the short end of the stick one too many times.
And how will he get anything done you ask? He would probably do what Bush is doing now-using Executive Privilege on everything to get bills that Congress won't pass.
Except that I have more confidence in Paul than Bush.

the departments & agencies he wants to change or end are unconstitutional. congress would be in the wrong to challenge dr paul on changes made. congress need be appeased only when creating such institutions. if anything, its up to congressmen to prove the validity of them.

He can veto any bill that has too much pork or spending. I'm sure that the people will also push many of their representatives to pass some of Paul's bills. Also, Paul isn't going to make a big sweeping change but at least he wants to. Who do you support? The same packaged candidate that offers no true change. You only support that person because is "mainstream" or "is rational" and "can win". You don't really care about the state of this country, you just go along with the flow.

Look at it this way.
The Democrat House and Senate sent Bush a $50 billion war spending bill. Bush promptly vetoed it because it contained language about troop withdrawl.
So what did Bush do? He held a press conference and blamed the Democrats for holding up funding for the troops.
Reid and Pelosi can attempt to hold their own press conference and explain, but nobody cares about what the Congressional leadership says, only the President.
Thus Bush continues to win this battle over and over and over with the public.
While you are correct that Paul wouldn't be able to make these changes, at least he can appeal to the American public that the IRS (for example) needs reform.
And I bet that 99% of the public would agree to IRS reform. I know I would, wouldn't you?
That would put the pressure on Congress to make the necessary changes.

Well who would want all those great changes huh? I mean you would have to be retarded to try and change the US for the better right? You just keep it the way it is and get another George in office as soon as possible. All those lovely congressmen and women, senators etc will make sure the US remains a sh*thole corrupt nation for as long as needs be isn't that just great? Yes thank God for those terrific congress people. If it weren't for them Ron Paul might have a chance at making the US great again.

I am thinking about voting for him... not 100%, but I like how his ideas are completely 180 to the general consensus. He used to be a libertarian and i am very much into socialism. He may be able to lead the country to that mind-set. I just posted a statement. What do you think about Ron Paul abolishing the IRS? How would he do that?
