terrorists? I have never heard of a terrorist being worried about what they have done or have planned to do...Terrorists did NOT care at all about the people they have beheaded. So why should it matter if a few get tortued to get info out of them that could possiblly save more innocent lives?

Folks I said TERRORISTS, not innocent people. I don't give a rat's behind about someone who would behead another living being, and I can't understand how anyone can feel sorry for them.

sensible....WRONG. 1 uncle killed and is classified as a WAR HERO, 2 uncles were POW's, Father served in both Vietam and Korea. 2 Sons currently serving in the Army reserves, who are getting ready for their NEXT deployment to Iraq. I think I know how I feel. Do you really think that any terrorist will have mercy on our children if they are captured??? You live in a dream world then.

In theory, that is good to say, but if we treated them the way they treat people, we would be no better than them. That is a quandry. But, I do believe they should be found & put away for a long time...like forever.

I'm totally with you on this one. It is ridiculous that the US is held at a much higher standard for protecting terrorists than terrorists are held when dealing with innocent people. Why the double standard? The world sees it as such an outrage when the US troops makes a few mistakes or harms a terrorists...I don't think I'd be any different if I was in their position...they are expected to behave like superhuman people and watch terrorists kill innocent people all the time. But the world hardly blinks when a terrorists acts like they usually do and kill and torture our people. I don't think there should be any difference.

We shouldn't care how they deal with terrorist. Its a matter of life and death in some cases. The one time we hesitate could be someones last time. As everything in life its not perfect. This may not be exact but it has proved to work and save the lives of someone you may know. This a country of where the majority rules. Lets quit bowing to this far left liberal, pacifist way of thinking. Lets be strong! Tough decisions have to be made. Lets not sit and drink tea with that person who is smiling at you and thinking to his self, " I'm going to kill you, and you just don't know when".

This has arisen from a guilt-laden ultra-liberal media's attempts at mind control. It's been going on since the first mandate was spoken in a town square. This is just another example of propagandizing and sensationalism gone very wrong. The media seem to want to make us feel bad for hurting those who hurt us. Like we're their children and we need their counsel. What's worse, is we have so-called educated people who believe everything they read or hear! Yikes!
Terrorists, to me, have given up their "right" to be treated fairly.

The civilized countries of the world are governed by Law. The rule by law must be equal for all or the LAW means nothing. Hence, if the Law says we will not treat people with torture then we MUST abide by that law.
Just that simple. Yes emotions and such play a tremendous part of our daily lives but no matter how you cut it we must abide by the Law or face anarchy.
Each day it is up to us to choose our direction obey laws or not -- speed in a car or not, take out a gun and shoot some one or not, rob a bank or not, molest a child or not, cheat on our spouse or not, cheat on our taxes or not. The list goes on for many hundreds of thousands of laws and regulations.
Can we really set aside our moral code of conduct when it pleases us? If we do then we fail as a people.
It is the people who decide how the Law is written. If you don't like the law -- CHANGE IT!!
As for a terrorist we have international Laws and Treaties that must be upheld. Again, If you don't like the law -- CHANGE IT!!
And how do you do that? Tell the people who represent you to change the Law.
Have a good day.

Personally, I don't care how they get information out of terrorists. But, we have to maintain our moral compass and with power, comes responsibility. If we act like terrorists, we are no better than they are. That being said, let the water boarding begin....

We should care if if we want to preserve our system of justice, which is very different from theirs. If we want to give up our national values and take up the terrorists' religious barbarism, then you're right, we shouldn't care.

It is obvious that you have no relation or close friends that have family in the military. What go's around, comes around. We would be indignant if another country treated our soldiers like this.

Your question is a good one that everyone (except John Mccain) in politics & the media avoid. The important thing to me is how we treat our OWN or other CIVILIZED people. McCain's argument is that if we torture them, they'll torture us. My response is that they already torture and behead people on TV. We don't owe terrorists civilized treatment.

it is very clear that is a train of thought with many individuals
Is it right to do this, how do you answer that,? if the question was put direct to the relatives of victims after a terrorist attack, the answer would probably be in the affirmative,
But torture of another is not, our culture, "as far as I know"But if my nearest and dearest were at imminent risk, my answer may be the same.
