I'm sure he's disappointed that he just lost his starting shortstop position, but you can't hit .251 with a .279 on-base percentage and expect to keep a starting job in the majors. Johnny Mac is a great gloveman, but even that isn't enough to excuse such a poor offensive performance.

I'm not a huge Eckstein fan, but this is a definite upgrade for my Jays. It'll be nice to not have that hole in the bottom of our lineup.

The Jays got a DEAL on Eckstein (Cardinals fan here) They got him for next to nothing and only on a 1 year deal when he was asking for 4 years. McDonald should work harder if he's mad the Blue JAys went after someone better.

As a huge Cardinals fan I love David Eckstein. I think he has a lot of heart and plays hard. But wouldn't anyone be uspet to be made a "backup" player. Guess only the season will tell.

It depends. He will be relegated to a defensive backup, but you never know... He could win the job back too... Maybe he'll be glad his team has a better chance to win. It depends.
