Its odd, but I can see where a father would see that as a way to pacify his crying child. Not to mention wonder what it was like to be able to have that bond with his child. For those very sensitive fathers, I'm sure the thought has come to their mind a time a two. A what if I tried it and it at least worked to pacify until mommy could stop what she was doing and feed the baby.
I breastfed for 5 months, for me it was the most natural, bonding experience. Her father would watch us and be so enthralled by the expression of contentment and happiness on both me and my child's face. I'm sure there were times he wanted to know for himself what it was like to be in your own world with your child, nourishing them from your own body, knowing that you and your body can give them so much contentment and happiness.

LOLOLOL some of these questions on here make me laugh so hard! Thanks for that! This question actualy reminded me of a family guy episode where peter tryed to breast feed stiewie. One of the best ones ever!
On a more seriouse note, I have heard of men breast feeding children. I heard that some men are able to lactate!
I dont think I would freak out at all. It may be a way of bonding. My dad told me that when I was a baby I used to suck on his nose. He thought it was cute. I dont really see anything wrong with it? It would be strange if they didnt ask me first though.

"Trying" to? Breastfed infants don't get the difference between one nipple or chest and the next. Whenever my husband held our son to his bare chest, our son would try to nurse. My husband would find it funny and at the same time be freaked out by it.
I guess there are men who can't help but wonder how it feels to bond with their infant like that and encourage it when they think they're alone. It wouldn't have freaked me out, but I would have thought it was odd or wondered if my husband was feeling left out of the bonding experience.

I'm sure you saw it on The Family Guy and not some news program.
If I caught my husband doing that to our children, there would be some serious pain and some serious questions that would need to be answered... along with lots of therapy.

sometimes if the baby is crying that bad, and mom isn't around, men will do this.
My father in law did this with all his kids, and has also done this with my nephew... who lives in the same house. He loves babies and this is his way of helping mom out...
