2 + x - 3x(square)
=?

To put it into the form (ax + b)*(cx + d), we know the following:

a*c = -3
b*d = 2
b*c + a*d = 1

now through guess and check you can see that
a = 3
b = 2
c = -1
d = 1
(3x + 2)*(-x + 1)

-3x^2+x+2 / -1

3x^2-x-2

(3x+2)(x-1)-1
