I dont think it has anything about having the "maturity" to accept a female or black as a president. When a "qualified" and "worthy" female or black candidiate does finally run we will talk about it! But so far i dont see one!

Unfortunately the black guy and the woman you are referring to do not fit my idea of a good president. If Colin Powell or Condoleeza Rice were running they would have my vote. Both have the experience (Secretary of State) to deal with the likes of Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong II. Not so Hillary or Obama. The fact is, neither has had any executive experience, whether being the mayor of NYCity or governor of a state like Massachusetts. In times like this it is not a good idea for the President of the US to have to do OJT (On the Job Training).

Whether a person is black or female is something that has to do with how we perceive someone on a visual level. I'm some what conservative but I support gay marriage because I believe that a family shouldn't have to "look" a certain way. Because of that I also feel a president should not have to look a certain way to be president.

Yes, we're ready. Thanks to progressives/liberals, the US has grown to accept change and variety of people, and as long as these people are apt to hold a presidential position, we will give them the chance! Heck, we even lent a mentally-retarded person in power for 8 years!! No other country would do that.

I think a lot of Americans are; however, there are those that are still stuck in the dark ages, making the rest of us look bad.

All that has to happen is for one of the parties to nominate one worth voting for.

But that isn't going to happen in this election.
