"To love is to suffer.
To avoid suffering one must not love.
But then one suffers from not loving.
Therefore, to love is to suffer;
not to love is to suffer;
to suffer is to suffer.
To be happy is to love.
To be happy, then, is to suffer,
but suffering makes one unhappy.
Therefore, to be unhappy,
one must love or love to suffer
or suffer from too much happiness."
--Diane Keaton, Love and Death (1975)

Love is an ideal and symbol for perfect relationship. As a symbol is has no real value other than for use as an icon to aspire to. The problem is that it is impossible to attain something called 'perfect relationship' when everything is already in relation to everything else. What this means for human beings is that the idea of love is only 'real' in the realm of thought and nowhere else.

If you expect perfection you will certainly be met with disappointment. Disappointment is what creates these feelings of pain.

Love has different meanings, you can love someone or something or everything, it's a feeling that comes from your heart or soul, whichever you prefer. It makes us sad sometimes because we don't expect the consequences or responsibilities that come with it.

Love is something you feel strongly for a person. You'll know when you feel it. It isn't love that makes us sad. It is ourselves, and the other person. Things that happen. Not love itself. Don't be fooled- don't fall 'in to' love, be 'in love'. =D best wishes!

Love is multidimensional, ethereal, evocative expression.
The tinge of sorrow or sadness that comes with it lends depth.
