I am moving from a London suburb, up north. I want to live close to my family home in Liverpool but far enough away for me and my partner to have a fresh start together. It will be our future family home and we want a really village feel but close enough to a town, and with good transport links to Liverpool. We want somewhere really perfect with a bit of everything. Any suggestions?

Parts of Cheshire like Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Prestbury are beautiful (although quite $$$$), and they offer reasonably good road links to Manchester and Liverpool (not sure about the train).

Yes you want to try alderly edge, it's a bit up market but it's lovely. Not to far from your kin and not to near. good luck.
