I have a cheque dated 5th December but I keep forgetting to go into town and cash it. If I went on Saturday, how long would it take before I could actually access the money? I've never dealt with cheques before! Thanks =)

Bank often will give you the cash right then IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH money in YOUR account to cover it... If not they may make you wait 1- to 2 days,, depends on what time of day you get it there,,,

Which if fact with the Cheque 21 system they could verify funds of that cheque instantly ,, this is just a crock that banks pull!! In fact you should just go to the bank the check is written off they should cash it ,YET Many of these Shady banks now charge non customers up to ten dollars for doing so! Ugh Banks suck!

Hiyah! Normally if you will encash it at the counter you will get the money right away provided that the account has sufficient funds and that the cheque is not a crossed cheque or for deposit only. In that case, you will need to deposit the check and the status of the check will be known after a day or two business days.

If, you have money in the Account to cover it then it sorta considered good to go and you can get cash that day. If, you not have money, you may have to wait until the next day to get cash. If, you deposit it and then go write a check it still covers the check you write. IF, it bounce back on you then it gets more detailed as to the different type scenario.

Most likely depended on the time of day you cash it/deposit it. If you cash it you would get the money right way. Deposit, probably access the next business day.

sometimes it takes like three days, so you have to ask when you go to cash it. make sure it is in your account before you write checks so that you will not write any bounced checks
