I know that peanut butter works for getting gum out of hair, I dont know if it would stain clothes or not. Some windex may do the trick. You need something slippery that would take the stickiness out of the gum. Windex can be used for getting your ring off your finger if its stuck and also is good for getting wall paper off of the wall. Since there is glue on the wall, my thinking is that the windex should work.

First, don't wash it. Put ice on it and chip off everything you can --- bit by bit. Then try some vinegar on a cotton swab with a little laundry detegerent. If that refused to work, there is a product called "Goo-Gone" that you can get to help with sticky stuff. It's worth the money comes in handy,

Buy a produce called Goo Gone, it's a citrus based liquid that will remove gum, lipstick and tape. I left some lipstick in my pants pocket and it took it right out.

I also have used it to get gum out of the carpet.

Hi There
there is a product that you spray on to the gum and it freezes it and then you can break it up and brush it out, unfortunately I don't know the name, please don't put anything warm near it as you will be in a right mess
good luck

either what Donna said, or fold up the clothes and stick them in the freezer for a couple of hours, the gum will fall off!
