Nationalism is the love and esteem of one's country. It can often take the form of thinking your country is the best (despite facts).

Imperialism is when one nation takes over others and uses them for their own benefit. Sometimes an empire absorbs other nations into its own, sometimes it just keeps them as colonies to feed the center.

Imperialism can often come from nationalism. If someone thinks that they have the best country, they may think its reasonable for their country to take over others and give them the same benefits (if the person is thinking of helping others), or may think that other countries should be crushed and made to serve their own.
