I think it's plain rude and inconsiderate of your bf/gf to dump you by text/e-mail, because, if you're brave enough to suddenly want to break someone's heart, you're brave enough to go up to them, and break up with them.

I have been dumped in an email before. Granted I had met the person through a dating site but we had actually gone out a few times so it wasn't like we just had an online relationship.It sucked but in the end everything worked out for the best and I found the right person eventually.

Depends on the relationship -- telling your spouse you are getting a divorce by text is a bit over the top, but telling someone that you have gone out with only a few times that you aren't interested or the chemistry is not right is definitely ok.

I totally do. I mean, if you really want to dump them, tell them in there face. Sending them a text means you never cared about the relationship in the first place and your showing 5 year old attitude.

Yes it is weak. And to me it shows the person had little respect for their ex in the first place and probably want the person last memory of them anything but good-if you're not going to dump them face to face.
If the person was good enough to hang out and maybe bed with, they're not good enough to break it off face to face? **** coward.

Depends how long you've been with them for, if its over a month it should be done face to face but if its less than a month then a txt or an email is ok. It is a bit mean though, but breaking up with someone face to face really is crap.

Yes! If you are strong and ready enough to end a relationship you should have enough gull to look at the person face to face and tell them and give them a reason.

oh wow i would have said no cause i said broke up wif a guy by myspace, i guess it is cowardly but if u use that program regurally i dont see whats so bad about it! Now i get why he never talked to me again and told his friends. Im sticking by it, no its not rude, but it is weak!

no,not in all te times.
besides online relations.
sometimes,you're just fed up with this person,and can't stand EVEN SEEING HIM FOR ANOTHER LAST TIME.
and you don't want any facing or one more contact.
or you don't care.
or afraid to get weak in front of him,since he can always make you change your mind,and regret it later.
so it's then good to dump him by text/mail.

I don't do on line relationships. And it's tacky to be dumped this way, it's for cowards. BUT this is a new age and time. Technology.
