Okay I wasn't actually robbed but he stol from me something that worth 500 bucks. And I was so mad because I can't believe someone made me like a fool. I really hate to loose. I'm controlling freak.

So I spend over 2000 bucks to hire a private detective. And I got him. Now he begging me to dropped the charges.

It is surprising that He is only 17. But I don't want a dropped charge because he is young. I know he never gonna change. I want to take a legal action and make his life miserable. I know I'm pathetic but I love the feeling to break someone's life.

You should forgive him but don't drop the charges. He needs to know that there are consequences for his actions. If he is not properly punished, then he is going to keep doing things like that. It's called tough love.

I know the feeling of wanting Revenge. That is the path that leads to the Dark Side young Jedi lol . I think you should forgive but not forget the deed that kid did to you. If I was in you shoes, I would just charge that kid about 3000 bucks that took you to pay the detective and forget about him. I'm sure he's not worth your time. So if you ask me, I'd let him go with a warning that if he ever bothers me again that you will send him to jail

Tell the guy you want him to work it off, while criminal charges are pending. It can be like probation, without the state getting the money.I bet he will show up one or two times and you will never see him again.Remember why he is stealing in the first place. He has a addiction ,or he though he didn't have to work for it,because someone else did.His only con now is to play you again....

he is only 17 he is young and foolish. you may be right he may keep stealing through his life he may not. but i think you should demand what he stole from you back in order to drop the charges then just say if you ever see him or hear that he has stole again you will get the police involved and he will go to prison basically scare him then he probably wont dare do it again, as i sad he is still young we all make mistakes i bet you have aswell, give him a break he is still a kid from probably a bad background.

Take the legal action and show him that what hee has done is wrong, and make him pay the consequences of his wrong actions. Then make sure that he goes somewhere safe, and is taught right from wrong, because if he is stealign things, that means his parents weren't that good raising him. Help get him somewhere that is good to him and teaches him morals. Just make sure he regrets stealing so he'll never do it again.
Also, he sould pay for the cost of the Private Detective. Since it was his choosing to steal from you, he must pay the consequences.

The alternative of legal would be to cut his hand off like they did in the old days. Well you do not have to go that drastic. but just tell him you'll drop the charges but first he has to summit to some corporal punishment.
So get a whip or belt and give him about 100 in his bear bottom.

This is entirely up to you, assuming you can prove he stole from you. He will have a felony on his record for the rest of his life, and be unable to get most jobs, if you continue action against him. Is he on drugs? Is that why he stole from you? That happens a LOT. If he is on drugs and stole from you because of that, you COULD turn him in for being on drugs. and he might turn his life around, while being treated for it, by the Court system. THAT would be a control that you could have over him, as well. Think about it.........total control of his drug use.

Press charges. Justice has to be served, regardless because he is only going to continue to do it. Its only right. As a nation we must take action regardless of the cost because if we fail then it will only get worse. so go for it make him miserable.

Make him pay for your Private Investigator, your time lost, as well as the $500 the item is worth.

Teach him a lesson. Don't drop the charges, otherwise he would do it again to others if not to you (regardless of what he tells you). Maybe it's even possible to get more than 2k from him since he started the problem.
