I mean no offense here, but as far as I can see, only some of them still survive til now (being used widely, both formal & informal), some of them are "saree" for Indians & "baju kurung" for Malays. What happen to "kimono" for Japanese?, "gowns" for Western?

It's time to change the tradition my dear .
don't you think it's a kind of pressure .
why weare such things if one dosen't likes .

Tradition is up to us , if you like it follow it
but,
fashion is general , it tends you to follow it
even overcoming the golden tradition.

I'd love to wear gowns, but lets face it, wouldn't we look ridiculous walking down the street in a gigantic dress.
