Haha, I'm the same way. I worry more about when animals die in movies than humans.
I saw it on Monday at a pre-screening, so if you really want to know, I will tell you... yes, the dog dies. And I cried like a big baby. But it's a really good movie regardless.

I have NOT seen the movie but in the book the dog does die from infection.
I am with you though...I don't think I could watch the movie if the dog doesn't make it...poor baby!!!

I am going to warn you, YES THE DOG DIES. and if you can't stand those kind of things, I advise you not to watch the film, which is a pretty good one. I cried my eyes out during that scene, it's so sad, and I'm not really a huge animal person. if you think you can handle it, watch the film, it's worth it.

There wasn't a dog in the original "Omega Man" with Charlton Heston (which "Legend" is a rewrite of) so I don't know.

If memory serves, he didn't die in the book, for whatever that's worth.
