Neither. The end result is usually the same in both instances - loss of trust; that ongoing sense of betrayal that is hard to shake even with others; the loss of a relationship you cherished.

That's like asking Which is worse - death by drowning, or death by suffocation.

both hurt the same

the A option at least gave you the opportunity of being with the one you thought you loved and he turned out to be a scoundrel..

B..could possibly be a figment of your imagination, if not you convinced yourself that this was "the one" and he did not feel the same and too late you realized you made a mistake..

the fact of the matter is that when you are in love with the "wrong person" the possibility of pain is always there...when the right one comes along you will know and the fulfillment that feeling brings you is overwhelming...

Best of luck..may you find the love you need in 2008

You can always survive being dumped, because you learn from that, But it's worse to be cheated on because all trust is lost, suspicion grows when your not together, not to mention you could catch an STD.

I would rather be cheated on, because I think it would be easier to move on after. It's not as hard to move on when someone wrongs you and treats you like dirt, because you know you deserve better. But it IS hard to move on when someone dumps you, and you thought they were "the one"...because you'll probably spend months wondering what you did wrong, why he/she dumped you, etc.

Isn't it the same? The end is still the same. By cheating on you they essentially have dumped you, right?

I've had both happen to me, and they are both pretty awful. But You know what's even worse than BOTH of those?

c. to be cheated on by the one you thought was "the one"

A: To be cheated on, that's the worst one for me. I have been disappointed by "the one" before and recovered.

b: because being dumped by the one means that wasn't the one so that can be a cruel realization
