Best - Subpop Records Box Set

Worst could be Pink Floyd's recent "Oh, By the Way."

Price: $250-$260

Downside is: There is no rarities disc, no concert material (aside from the live half of Ummagumma), no previously unreleased work, no interviews, no DVDs, no 5.1 audio, no historical liner notes and-- most significantly-- no remasters save the one you can already get on the recently-released standalone 40th Anniversary Edition of Piper. Assuming you're like a lot of people and already own the latest, cleanest retail-release pressings of every Pink Floyd record you'd ever want, Oh, By the Way will serve no purpose outside of a fan-pleasing visual novelty; it practically exists to be looked at instead of listened to.

The only two I have are :~

The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks {3 CDs & booklet}

Some interesting photos and lyrics
2 un-released live tracks
3 b-sides
2 single versions of album tracks
3 demos
1 piano version of a classic track
1 track from the Buckingham Nicks album
2 tracks from other artists albums
1 outtake
6 soundtrack songs

Personally, I would have prefered more of the rarities, as Stevie is known to have an extensive back catelogue of un-released songs.

Fleetwood Mac ~ The Chain 25th Anniversary set {4 CDs & booklet}
{There is also a 2CD version, which has 1 song not on the 4 disc set}

Very expensive (cost me £50- at the time)

Discs 1 - 3 :~
Songs from the post 'Self Titled' to 'Behind the Mask'
2 Bob Welch era songs
4 new songs
Silver Springs {originally a b-side}
2 live tracks
1 extended version
6 alternate mixes
1 with different intro

Disc 4 is a selection from the Peter Green era to the Bob Welch era.

The booklet has some early photos, and a listing of all the singles and albums released in both the UK and the US.

Having since collected the other post '75 albums, all I really got out of it was 7 songs!

Best I've owned:
AIC - Music Bank
Sublime - Everything Under The Sun
The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
Ella Fitzgerald - Dearly Beloved
The Who - Thirty Years of Maximum R&B

don't know any for worst........only the reallly expensive one that aren't worth the high price (ie Aerosmith's Box on Fire) and the Trojan box sets......they have about 10 different 'box sets' with 3 discs each for a whole lot of genres that they produced

Best - Led Zepplin
Worst - Nirvana - With the Lights Out

I may get some thumbs down for saying that, but I hated the Nirvana box set. It was like a collection of crappy recordings and outtakes kinda stiched together to make some more cash off of the Nirvana name.

I don't own many box sets, but I'd say Journey's 'Time 3' box set is great. I didn't realize that there WAS a Journey prior to Steve Perry. The music they made was sort of a Genesis-lite style. Good stuff.

The three best boxsets that I own are Led Zepplin, The Police(which covers every recording they ever had), and the Eagles.

Also have Earth Wind and Fire, which is excellent.
