With no offense meant James should bring a chuckle.
Feeling good about ones self is so often influenced by our belief of others feelings, perceptions and/or expressions. That is so much a negative way to pass through life.
YOU are in control of you, and as such you don't have to slap everyone in the face with it, but certainly you can avoid negativity, often.
I have counselled in that regard, using two examples.
I can frame my face with my hands and likely find 48 things I'm not totally happy with, but live with through acceptance. (Read the Serenity Prayer) Thank you 6...smiles.
You might feel bad about YOU in regard to your appearnce? Find the largest mirror you can, and in private, STRIP and look at you in the mirror. Then look more deeply, finding at least ONE thing you like about you. Enjoy that, even nurture it; and eventually it will become evident to others, not only physically perhaps, but in your attitude and projection of yourself.
OK one more. Assume you want to leave the house, and perhaps have even dressed for some level of success. Once outdoors you find that it's Raining. Certainly you can't stop IT, but you can, then adjust to it.
Try to begin thinking analogously about you, life, etc. in a positive sense.
Example: You or your life are like a delicious cake, added to only by the ICING you now have chosen to put on it.
Finally and analogously. I went to the Doctor the other day, telling him I'd broken my arm in 3 places. He rubbed his chin, uttered a "HMMM" and said, "I think you should stay out of those places."
