Well if you can return it I would, smoke is a pretty hard smell to get rid of especially considering you probably can't wash the purse.

They have a febreeze spray that is just for ciggarrette smells and like pet oders and stuff. Try it. I used it on bed mattress that was given to me, and it smelled like smoke, I just sprayed it and put it outside in the wind to air dry and a few hours later it didn't smell.. you may have to spray it a couple of times, but it will come out.. or if all else fails take it to a dry cleaner, they clean things like that..

Use a vinegar soaked cloth to wipe your purse, I know what you’re thinking; vinegar doesn’t smell much better than smoke. Well, that’s true, but the smell of vinegar eventually diminishes, cigarette smoke doesn’t. There’s something about vinegar that gets rid of smoke smell.

stick a pack of mints in the purse open them of course and leave them in there or air it out outside on a porch or something.

there are some kind of dry flower i do not know it contents actually are but they are very good for such smell in the house you can find out more from your local art studio.

Spray it throughly with Fabreeze.
This worked in my car after i tried everything else.
