You would mean India, Canada, Australia, and all the African colonies.......basically because the British didn't oppose it.
The British worked actively with Canada and Australia to make an easy transition; in 1947, exhausted by WW1 and WW2 and years of civil unrest, the Brits threw up their hands, said, good luck and pulled out of India, and to a lesser extant the same in the African colonies.......
compare and contrast to the French experiences in Algeria and Vietnam post WW2

After the American War for Independence, British policy toward colonies wishing independence softened. The primary reason being they didn't want a repeat of the American fiasco.
As a result, Canada, Australia and India were able to acquire independence without much resistance, and certainly without war. India might be the exception.

Depends on which colony. Canada, Australia, and NZ gradually evolved towards independence as their institutions matured. Other colonies were granted independence after WW2 put the mother country in a hole financially. Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949. Some colonies are still colonies-it's case by case.

Embarrassment. paying for overseas bureaucracies grew to become into draining funds from Britain, specifically if the colonies did no longer have sufficient components that Britain wished. It have been given much greater high priced if the community human beings saved resisting. battling an occupying rigidity would not unavoidably count variety as revolution, specifically if the prestige quo maintains to be the comparable afterwards. aside from wars of independence, interior the twentieth century it grew to become into purely no longer politically surprising to have colonies, so Britain replaced their call to 'commonwealth international places' and progressively granted greater independence. This grew to become into partially as a reaction to their help interior the wars, partially as the thank you to keep funds, and partially as a reaction to increasing criticism from British people who did no longer desire to be linked with overseas domination.

They promised to have a picture of the queen on their money but since Australia had all the convicts, they had to put the Union Jack on their flag. Even so, the Aussies had balls enough to make it small and stuck off in a corner.
