my friend gave me a box she found with old magazines with instructions for knitting doilies and the string and stuff and in it I also found a small bottle that looks like clear nail polish, it is a small bottle with a gray cover with a brush attatched, on the front it says "knittax Apparate-oel" anyone know what it is?

To make the knitting stiff. You may have a reason while knitting something that you need to use it as a glue, or if you were to knit snoflake ornaments, you would put that on them to make them stiff.

Hmmmm...To my opinion it sound like some kind of knitting oil...but when i look up the word seperately this is what I found:

Knittax--Is some sort of knitting machine

this is the weird one---

Apparate is a spell used by witches and wizards to travel from one place to another instantaneously

So not real sure...Hope this helps a little anyway..But it sure seems to me that it some kind of oil you can use while knitting..especially how you said it was found..in with the dollies and things..I can only imagine how ones hands can get sore from knitting...
