Only if they lie to a Grand Jury too.

So far they have only broken league rules about steroid use, so it's Bud Selig's problem.
Bonds is charged with committing perjury, which is a Federal offense. It's the same thing Scooter Libby got convicted of. The Feds don't care about him taking steroids, they are upset that he lied to them about it. Big difference.

There is a difference here. The list is based mostly upon checks cashed, the Balco fiasco and the testimony of a couple providers, along with clubhouse guys and front office personnel. Except for three cases, there are no confessions. In Barry's case we have an admission under oath before a grand jury. While nearly all of the players in the list have at least a little wiggle room for denial, Barry does not. Yes, he denied *knowing* that what he was taking were steroids, but steroids they were. All the players who did indeed use should be denigrated, no doubt, but none of them broke a hallowed record while on the juice. Barry broke two (single season HR and total HR). That fact, added to his abrasive personality, sets him apart from the other cheaters in the game.

As for restoring the integrity of the game, I really don't know that it is possible. We know this report only scratches the surface of this shame on the national past-time. There are many more cheaters out there and they will never all be caught or exposed.

I agree totally with Native. Clemens and co will recieve no where near the scrutiny that Bonds did. And that because people for the most part are gullible sheep. We take in everything we hear as fact, and for years the press has built Bonds up to be the anti-christ and Clemens a super hero. Years of hearing this over and over has brainwashed peoples ideas about these men. Its an example of the power of the press and propaganda. It has happened throughout history and that isnt going to stop, all we can do is hope that we can form our own conclusions from what we here and see from people themselves and not what 3rd and 4th parties say about said person.

The really high prohile ones on the list, esp. Bonds and Clemens, will have some attackers (probably some supporters too.) For some of the players who haven't played in a while, weren't very notable or we already knew used steroids (Lenny Dykstra) - will probably just have small mentions here and there.

No, they're only going to say NOW its bc he lied to a grand jury & THAT's why they don't like him. They can't say Clemens had a likeable personality, so that's what they are left with. Of course Bonds has not been found guilty of lying to a grand jury yet, but that's the new angle.

The media has done just that. Now it is time for the players to go after the media. The players need to get detctives and dig up the dirt on these reporters.

if they banned everyone who ever took steroids from playing ,,no one would be able to play,, i have a friend who played pro .football who was contacted by life mag..to do an article on steroid use in the NFL,,, he refused ,,he told me 70% of players shoot up,,why ,,because it makes them bigger ,,stronger,,faster,,he told me stories of injurying himself ,,and they would take him in the locker rooms and inject him and send him back out to play,,, which made his injury so bad that it took him from the league,,he could not play anymore... if they want to restore the integrity to the game,,knock down the amount of money they pay these guys to play,,, they pay them so much that they think they are god's that can do whatever they like,,,, after all it is to be a game

Probably, ESPN seems to be making a big deal about it. I don't know why? Most people I talk to could care less.
