Now before you tell me Leaf sucks and all, I would remind you there was a time when Doug Flutie was not considered good enough to play in the NFL in the first place.

The CFL has taken in many players who wanted to play QB over the years that NFL pundits did not consider up to league standards. Some have later gone on to the NFL afterwards like Etcheverry, Moon, Garcia and Flutie. The guys who have succeeded here have been mobile players with strong arms and could adapt well to the larger field and the pass concentrated attack.
If Leaf had been interested in coming to Canada, most definitely one team or another would have spoke to him. I think in his case as much as there may have been interest expressed to him, he may have felt going to Canada was either not in his interest or was somehow beneath him.
Many QBs come and many fail. It's the extra DB on the field that usually jumps up to bite them in the end. After playing your whole life facing a defense of 11, it's surprising how many guys can't grasp that there are 12 on the field in Canada and fall victim to that extra DB who's just sitting back looking to pick him off.

I never heard of any Canadian teams that had interest in him. Which is actually kind of interesting. I wonder if it was him or teams were not interested.
As we all know, some guys have started decent professional careers in Canada and then moved to on the the U.S. ( Moon, Garcia, etc)
Although even though not many have tried, a few that have played in the NFL then tried the Canadian game have not worked out all that well. ( Vince Ferragamo).
