we have a wireless router its a D-link and sits right next to our monitor on the desk,about every 5 to 10 minutes i get disconected and i get a low connectivity message,then it connects itself again.why does this happen when it is connected into this computer and sits next to it?My sons laptop works fine upstairs.Any clues?

Your are too close to the antenna. The signal is over driving your wireless.

When a signal is over driven (too much power), the signal clips (or cuts flat) at the peak.

Move the wireless about 10 feet away.

Or better yet, If you are right next to the router, just put a cable in to connect the two.

The router is to close. I had the same problem at school. The wireless router on my desk had bad reception, but the router in the back room had good reception.

use 802.11a as it's on a 5ghz frequency compared to 2.4 like the b and g bands.

your router is most likely using all 3 for backward compatibility.

your issue is typical of any microwave, cordless or line-of-sight interference issues. possibly you have something
creating interference or attenuating the signal.

try moving your router away a little bit, if you can, elevate it above your system for improved coverage.

Bonjour madam

something is interfering, we had childs baby monitor interefering when my sister came around with her baby.

So my daughter would switch it off, and the dig would alert us of her crying, lol

We have a good dog!

Try and see devices like this, also your router should eb in the corner of a room!

the router is to close you need to be at least 5 feet away

You may have it too close to a power cable/socket ot too close to a screen.

sometimes there are problems in the office where the internet connection is from.
