Now, don't say for us to just say no.
It's my inlaws retarded trim a tree party that they have every yr. It is so lame. I've gotten out of it for about 6yrs, because of work, but now they "know" that I will be home in time for the party this year. My children don't even want to go. We are not close with them. Though, it is my husband's family. My children have been put on the back burner with them, and the other grandchildren have all the attention. My children call to come visit, and time and time again, they turn them down. My husband and boys probably will go, but I don't want to.
That side of the family has REALLY neglected our children.

tough question. I would go and just put on a nice face and put up with it. I would probably be quiet and not participate much but I would make the appearance for my husband.
It;s the holidays and I wouldn't make your kids go though...
Have them watched if they are too young but if they are older, then why make them go?
just go with hubby to make the effort. It makes you the better person.

Tell them that you don't appreciate how they are treating your kids and yourself and you don't think y'all should be subjected to it. Maybe they don't even realize what they're doing and would be willing to change something to make you and yours more comfortable. If not, then they are crappy family and you shouldn't have to go. =/

don't go, but be prepared for the social whiplash you recieve for blowing it off, either that or swallow a bunch of laxitives and claim sick to the husband, but really make him believe it, and they will believe it
