Interesting Question.... I thought that was here until you threw in the moving part! Sadly, I was abused and forgotten most of my life so what's the difference.

Not sure about the beard, but the hat is nice!!! I guess you need a warm face!

Well as someone said I try to be useful in society and help young people when I can. Not all young people are like some of the ones we see here on YA.

I think elderhostel might be something interesting to look into, where you can travel and learn about things with both young people and older people.

I think sometimes it's our fault as boomer parents and aunts and uncles, that we somehow imparted that it was ok to be rude and selfish and narcisstic to our kids and grandkids and neices and nephews. In telling them they were special we neglected to mention that other people are just as special and that the world doesn't revolve around their particular wants needs and desires constantly.

Actually I live here already, the people in our court are all about my age and our children grew up together. Not all the children turned out to respect our knowledge and learning but the ones that don't, well they just don't visit.
It is the nice ones that come and as for the youngies that are starting to move into our court as the houses become vacated, they are about the same as us oldies with some endearing and some not so endearing qualities. If we respect their perspective and their 'knowledge and learning' show by demonstration.

That would be ancient Grece and we're too late. I believe that tolerance and generosity among the older generations for youth creates an attitude of warmth and understanding. The world for them is an overamped, expensive often cruel place as it is for us oldsters. We are all in this together.

I'd move if it had water, trees and the aura of nature around it. I'd be moving to gain some of the knowledge not necessarily to share my limited reserve.

Definitely would move but then again how could I make so many young people so miserable if I didn't stay here. It seems we old folk rule the world because so many youngsters think we go out of our way to make them suffer LOL

Wally, by making myself "useful" in society, I don't suffer the trauma that some experience. I admire that fact that you are also a non complainer, as you know, people "beat feet" when a senior complains

The only place I know of like that is in my head. I take this attitude wherever I go & enjoy the contact and company of my elders.

I am a middle aged man, and I greatly respect advice from my parents, and my grandfather taught me almost everything he knew.

It's just too bad that many people don't realize it before it's too late.
