The pathway home is easy to recall
At a pace quite slower than before
A stop cannot be planned, you see
The turns are less exciting
I watch for signs of change
As the red light glows
And motor roars
May I go
Driving
Past

Elys...your are way good at poems.

As you have so keenly onserved, my wont is to call birth and death 'home'.

I love it...coz it refers to the return to the land of familiar, down to the memory lane...where you feel at home...
I also find it very interesting as the contemplation encapsulated within the poem has been presented in a descending shape/ manner...I believe that this technique has brought more depth and edge to its entirety.
=)

I guess the form is more exhilarating than the content! I like its 3-dimensional style - kind of kite or saucer-shaped UFO. The return journey to the stars is certainly "slower than before."
Fascinating cubistic poem leaning more towards Picasso than Walt Whitman.

Excellently good!! Images superb...meaning: more than 3-4 ways of interpreting this one.

I'd like to know exactly what 'home' is. But, by the rest of the way this poem develops, I tend to think it's death, or old age.

And, we'd ALL like to drive past those 2!!!

Fascinating!

Yeah TD. You can go driving past or you can stop, but I gotta tell you, you can never go home again.

Edit: I do like your poem.
Re Edit: "We were quit on the draw." You shoulda got best answer but you were knocking heads with a dear friend of mine.
