Oh I dont think I can afford to do that because I dont want to be treated that way either...so my best strategy is to be frank with criticisms, I am always straightforward, I am outspoken..and after all if you meant well, then no need to put words in disguise..that is not being confrontational..that being sycophant, hyp[ocrite.. you can always be frank for as long as you do it tactfully, not to insult but somehow suggesting a better option,,to disuise insult is fooling yourself too..worst you cant retract your words already, ok???

Yes, all the time with my friend. Sometimes she does stupid things and I don't want to hurt her feelings, but sometimes stuff just slips out my mouth so I turn it around into a compliment.

Only when my husband and I are fighting. Its sarcastic and he knows what I mean. Like when I tell him how great he is to have put up with someone who had the nerve to bring a ___ into his house while he was out of town. The ____ was a new refrigerator. He was totally bent out of shape. My mother-in-law will clean our house (no one asked her to) and say "it wasn't too bad". What the hell is that?

I believe that's called "damning with faint praise". I wish I was as good as doing that as others have been to me in years gone by.

Anyway, your obviously limited intelligence has still managed to produce a very good question. Well done.

See, it doesn't really work for me does it

oh yah big time
I called an employee a grandma yesterday because I was over-tired and clearly NOT thinking. SO afterwards I kept feeding her complimanets, "where did you get your sweater..." "you look nice today"....must be psychological.

ps: shes like 30 so she must have taken offence to my retarded comment

I try not to but I know many who do that.
One very popular one is "Wow, you look good! For your age".
Nice remark with a slap in the face.

Yea because I don't want them to know that what they said may have offended me. This intimidates some people. But I like it because I know it gets under their skin.
