"Terms" are the respective promises made by each party to the contract. "Representations" are essentially warranties: statements of fact made by one or more parties and set forth in the agreement on which others may rely. For instance in a contract for the sale of goods there may be representations that the seller has good title or is properly licensed to deal in the commodity, or that the person signing the contract has authority to bind its principal.

Terms in a contract means the agreements that both parties are willing to follow and representations means the parties that can act for the principals.

Not all Christians do this. As somebody who used to follow that philosophy, I may be able to give you an answer, though. I would say those exact things because of all the differences I'd find in churches I'd go to. I'd become so frustrated with trying to figure out what I was "supposed" to believe, I finally gave up. I grabbed my Bible and started reading. I do have a personal relationship with Jesus, and through the Bible I learned the way He wanted me to live. Therefore, I didn't identify myself with any certain denomination of Christianity. I simply lived as the Bible told me I should.
