While hiking on a somewhat remote trail 3 days ago, I saw something that astonished me. A young man (30ish) passed me going the opposite direction, wearing and carrying absolutely nothing, not even a fig leaf (except sneakers, I think).
When I first saw him, I did a double-take, and had to stare for several seconds to comprehend what I was seeing. Then my eyes became frozen, paralyzed looking past him to the trail ahead. I could not force myself to look at him again.
He was just a regular looking guy, and casually said hello as we passed. In 10 seconds, the whole encounter was over, but I still can't comprehend the whole thing. Can anyone explain this to me?
The trail was about 5 miles long, with 1 road crossing in the middle. At one end was a state park, with a dozen or so parked cars. At the other end was a remote parking area. I was walking toward the remote end. There were no cars parked at the road crossing, or the remote parking lot.

I am sorry but I don't know what you are wanting help with. He was probably just doing it for attention or because he knew he wasn't going to get in trouble for it. Maybe he didn't think anyone else was going to be on that trail so he took a chance, but there you were. You never know, he could have been embarrassed but really good at hiding it.

Um, he left his clothes under a bush, went for a nice walk and returned to them later.

hey, it's a hiking trail, 5 miles is a long way people get hot, the most natural way to cool off...or
if you are going to do a nature trail might aswell go natural....
