You have to look at the histories why this happened.
Socialism is not inherently evil, it is leaders that are.
Democracy is not inherantly evil, it is the leaders that are.
Many people, world wide, consider Bush evil.
My question to you is, did you know we have a lot of socialism in the USA now? Fire and police protection, many power grids are socialistic, our heatlh care for our military and federal leaders is socialistic, our military is socialistic, so are our public schools. There are many examples of capitalism and socialism working side by side, such as our city and state infrastructures.
The only thing that needs to be made socialistic in the country is our health system.
I don't think you will understand what I have written above. That would be party because you really can't think for yourself and you have been brainwashed into thinking the new evil word is socialism.
Yea, pure socialism is nuts, so is pure capitalism, but balance the two together, it can work damned well.
Peace
Jim

First of all, to the guy who said "socialists give you a cow and let you have some of its milk", that's communism, not socialism. There's a vast difference between the communism of the former Eastern Bloc and the socialism being operated in the Scandinavian countries where you pay more taxes but just about everyone has subsidised apartments.
Both extremes of the political spectrum are evil, because they are extreme, not because of which end of the spectrum they are on.
Any belief that is that extreme can only help the minority.
Let's transfer your example elsewhere.
Al Qaeda bombs the US. Does that mean Islam is inherently evil? Even as a Christian I must say no it is not. It preaches peace.
A Christian sect leader kills himself and 50 people in a mass suicide. Does that mean Christianity is evil? Of course I say no, this is a biased opinion.
Is owning a gun evil? No, I am sure there are many people who just use it for target practice or hunting and have never hurt a human being or never will. Whether hunting is evil is a matter of opinion. But look at the number of gun deaths.
There are people who take things to the extreme. Normally it's because they take a single belief out of thousands and apply it to all life. You can't do that. Life is about context, and applying it to what is happening in your life and the people you influence.
Is national pride evil? No. But that's what the Nazis were. Nationalists. There's nothing wrong with protecting your country. It's when you take the protection and turn it from defence into attack that the evil is created.

I did not know Italy was socialist under Mussolini.
Fascism in Italy was corporatist. Not all socialist states or states that have aspects of socialism are TOTALITARIAN dictatorships. Hitler's Germany was an exception to the rule. I don't think Nazism was REALLY socialist just because the NSDAP had a name that included it. The other thing to consider East Germany called itsself a " democratic" republic.

Socialism has never lead to these things.
Pseudo-socialist who do not honor the intent of socialism then are given unchecked power are the cause of these things.
Socialism as a system suffers from the same issue as all other pure systems-it relies on people thinking of the community as a whole rather than just themselves.
When you let capitalism go too far you get America in the late 20's and 30's.
No pure system works. You have to get portions of many different systems so that the powerful people dont just trample the weak.
Any system can destroy the rights of the people, even one designed to make that impossible. Lincoln showed us that in the US but we ignored that part of the story and allowed FDR and now Bush to repeat that.

Nazism and Fascism are right wing idealogies, make no mistake, built around a hyper infalted version of nationalism. Any idealog to be successful must at first be populist, nationlism strike a populist cause or as you would define it patriotism. The majority of Europe is left wing and is successful as it while also providing free health care, education and services. These left right debates are dead, there is no inherent evil on the left or right unless it interjects its will forcefully on the people or other people.

No, socialism is not inherently evil. Its underlying tenets are about creating a better society for all, not just the privileged. Fascism and Nazism are based on totalitarianism (not democracy) and ethnic/racial prejudice (again, not democracy). So these are not the best approaches as history has shown us.
Are you old enough to understand what it is to be a liberal, or are you just repeating the slanted opinions you learned at home/school/church? It's not a four-letter word, and I recommend you get a bit more informed on the subject. Thanks.

The Scandanavian countries are some of the most socialized nations to date (we're talking about real socialism and dictator defined Socialism). I would hardly call Sweden evil.

I don't think socialism is evil it just goes against human nature, and therefore can not be successful.
Yes life is not fair and some people just don't ever get ahead, but socialism fails at raising the poor up, and only brings everyone else down.

I do not think socialism is inherently evil. I simply believe human nature makes socialism unworkable.
They always point to the Scandinavian countries. Small, heterogenous groups of like-minded people. Look again, Liberals: They're having trouble with immigration.

Socialism is only evil when right wingers get ahold of it, like they did in Nazi germany.
Right wingers turn everything they touch into poop.
Then they try to pretend somebody else did it.
Childhood toilet training issues, I think.
