Because there was only ONE game between 1990 and 2000 that was about mid-evil times with a prince and princess .....

If you're talking about the side-scroller where you had to jump over chasms and occasionally swordfight guys and every now and then spikes would come out of the ground and skewer you, then it's the original "Prince of Persia" by Broderbund Software Inc., the same team that made the old, fun "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" series.
