I've switched to SUPERantiSpyware which has picked up nearly 1000 things Spybot has missed

heebus_jeebus: so if I keep it and just use to as you say Imunize there wont be any conflict between the software as I'm led to believe can happen, yeah that makes sense

How you get rid of Spybot, is to go to your trat, start, and open run and type in c://www.program files, click on browse, click on program files, and look for the file name and delete. If it says that it is write protected or being used by another file, reboot and the next time should delete.

Next to to start, search and type in Spybot Search & Destroy and let your pc scan for any related file that is found. Delete any related file from top to the bottom and that will take care of your corrupt deletion.

Don't want to tell you how to remove the file from your registry, because if you are not an experienced user you may take out the wrong registry keys and really mess up your pc.

Immunization is a lot of crap as it really does nothing with any antispyware that has this feature.

I agree with the advice to reinstall then uninstall.

I also agree that Superantispyware is a much better on-demand scanner than Spybot.

However, I keep Spybot on board primarily for its "SD Helper" function, which is your bad download blocker. So unless you are also using Spyware Blaster and / or Advanced Windows Care2 for their immunization feature, you should consider sticking with Spybot for the immunization, if nothing else.

Edit: The info given by muffer_3 is for a malware removal and has *nothing* to do with Spybot Search and Destroy.
"W32.Spybot.ANDM is a worm that spreads by exploiting known vulnerabilities."

Edit 2: I've never encountered any conflict. I run Spybot S&D v1.5.1.18 along with Spyware Blaster and Advanced Windows Care2. I have Superantispyware as my designated on-demand antispy, I use Avast 4.7 free version as my AV, Comodo Firewall Pro v2.4 for my firewall and Comodo BOClean for real-time antimalware shield.

^ No ^ conflicts ^ !

I agree with alan, but I would also use a registry cleaner after which if it is good enough should remove any of the registry files you missed which are associated with spybot.

First, delete everything in C>Program Files about SpyBot. Then delete any files in the registry that say SpyBot. It still may not rid everything, but it's better. To clean the registry, go to start>run>regedit

The safest way to do it is to go back to http://www.spybot.com
re-download the program then remove the program using add/remove programs.

Click "Start", then go to "Programs", then go to "Set Program Access and Defaults", then "Change or Remove Programs", then just scroll down to what you're looking for and remove it. Don't forget to restart afterwards :)
