Christmas dinner, but neither he nor his parents smoke cigarettes. He does not want them to know about it and he does not even want me to take my cigarettes along. I want the opportunity to enjoy a cigarette outside, of course, every so often, but my bf does not want them to know I smoke. I think this is unrealistic since, I am a pack a day smoker and he knows I get grouchy when I am forced to go without a cigarette. Any ideas? I need to come up with something fast. Anyone else ever experience this?

I have went through this and it sucks. If you don't care if they find out you smoke, then after you eat or whatever just say you need a cigarette and go outside. If you want to secretly do it without them finding out or making it obvious, then tell your bf you are going to make an excuse to go outside while you're there and for him to go along with the excuse. Say you need to get something out of your car, or you want to put something in your car, or say you need to make a phone call on your cell and you have no reception so you need to go outside...or when they're not paying attention just go out and have one and they may not even ask....but if you don't want them to find out what you've done make sure you dont' smell like an ashtray when you come back inside.

If you insist on smoking (which you should really consider stopping) then you have to get use to people not appreciating it. Don't bother hiding it though. Your man knows you smoke, he's dating you in spite of the fact that you smoke so it's really unfair and silly of him to bother you about it now. Let him know you're not going to hide your habits from anyone and if his parents can't handle it well then maybe next Christmas you can go to your parents for the holidays.
No I've never experienced this because I don't care what other people think. If my man was giving me a hard time about things he knew about me before we started dating then well I'd stop seeing him. You can't claim to accept someone then date them with the hope they'll change you're only setting yourself up for disappointment.

I went outside when 2 of her cousins went out to have a cigarette, and I bummed them off of them all night.

i think he took u as you were and he should not try to change who you are.and if he dosent like who you are and feels embarrassed or ashamed of you maybe he needs not let the door hit him where the sun dosent shine.i think i would go out and have a smoke and not be controlled and if he or parents dont like it oh well.dont le him control you.it starts with small things that lead to major things believe me i know

Either quit or be upfront with them you cant hide it forever imagine how pi$$ed they would be if they found out you hid it on purpose

everyone knows cigarettes are bad for you but i'm tired of people telling me what i should do or what i shouldnt do.it my choice and my body.You know they are bad for you but if you need a cigarette GO SMOKE ONE!! Dont let his parents tell you any different.No one should treat anybody any different because of a simple cigarette!!
