Why bother? As a parent my view on supplying them with a cheating device would be that I'd ultimately be nagged to buy them more games since once you start cheating in a game you can beat it much faster. There's also the aspect of why encourage them to cheat, especially in a potentially online/interactive game like Pokemon in which their cheating effects the experience of other people playing the game honestly.

At this juncture though a "Flash Cart" is the best option for a DS. I'd recommend picking up a "slot 1" card like an R4, Cyclo Revolution, or a G6 Real. I use a G6 Real for homebrew and thoroughly enjoy that I don't have to use micro SD cards for it.

get an r4 with a 2gig scandisc micro sd and it comes complete with cheats built in to the games you can choose which to activate or not.
they are the best things ever you can "back up" all your games onto it even games you haven't got yet...
